Maggie has failed her final year at her elite New York boarding school and so will not graduate high school. Back home in Oak Falls for the summer and at first pretending it’s just for a short time before going to college, Maggie is feeling like she doesn’t fit in.

Maggie has to decide whether to confess everything to her parents and get a job working on the farm just outside of town - where mysterious Caleb also works.

Or she could keep her secrets, and find work at a nearby beach club for the summer pretending she’s sensibly saving for college plans. Her childhood friend Nate also works there and it turns out one of the club members – a rich girl called Genevieve - has caught both their eyes this summer...
