This Treacherous Night

In this sweeping YA fantasy for fans of Six of Crows, a group of magic-wielding teens must pull off the ultimate heist.

The god of the sun has been stolen, plunging the world into eternal night. Now, a ragtag crew of misfits must embark on an impossible quest: sail to the secret island fortress where the god is imprisoned and find a way to release him.

A smuggler with a score to settle.
A pickpocket.
A runaway.
Death's own hand.
A loyal brother.

In the Divine Empire, those gifted magic by the Arcane Gods are highly prized. So when the god of the sun disappears from the sky, the Magisterium wastes little time in conscripting a group of Arcana to restore the light.

But each member of the misfit crew has their own agenda, and the stakes are personal. As factions and friendships form, secrets come to light and alliances are tested. And when the group uncovers an even deadlier plot, will they stay loyal to saving the world, or just themselves?

Featuring a diverse ensemble cast, a magic system inspired by tarot cards, slow-burn enemies to lovers romance, revenge and betrayal, this is a richly imagined and propulsive YA debut from Behooved author M. Stevenson.

"With an artfully rendered world and a truly inventive magic system, this imaginative YA heist will grip readers by their hearts and keep them on the edge of their seats until the last thrilling twist." Jessica S. Olson, author of Den of Liars

"M. Stevenson crafts a magical heist unlike any other, full of twists, secrets and a lot of heart. If stealing the sun sounds impossible to you, wait until you meet this crew!" Kika Hatzopoulou, author of Threads That Bind
